Donations can be made through a secure link with PayPal OR can be mailed to P.O. Box 302, Saline, MI 48176. Questions may be directed to the treasurer.
Questions concerning Donation of Artifacts should be directed to Stephanie Custer, who will present proposed donations to the Collections Committee at their monthly meeting. Persons wishing to donate an artifact should write a letter or send an email describing the item(s). Include a clear photograph. Only items appropriately related to the society mission and established criteria are approved for acceptance. Donors will be asked to sign a brief Certificate of Gift.
The Saline Area Historical Society accepts donations of artifacts for the purpose of conservation and education. Our Collections Committee screens incoming donations and determines whether they are appropriate to the purpose of our mission. The committee also determines where and how each item will be stored and/or used. Additionally, the society accepts monetary donations which could be used to purchase appropriate antiques.
The Saline Area Historical Society DOES NOT accept artifacts on permanent or long-range loan. However, there are times when we have a need to seek items from the community that might be an asset to a special display or exhibit.
Saline Railroad Depot Museum: We accept artifacts that are related to railroad usage during the time period between 1870-1962 and artifacts related to Saline history.
Rentschler Farm Museum: We accept farm items that could have been used between 1900-1950 and household items up to, and including, the 1930s.
Items manufactured in Saline or possibly used in the Saline area take preference. All potential artifacts must be in good condition. Generally, we do not accept items that need repair.
We appreciate your membership in the society and any help that you can provide to further the work of the organization.
We also greatly appreciate contributions of documents, photographs, books, and realia related to our area of interest.
Visitors who are interested in viewing specific items should contact us ahead of time to determine whether such an item is in our collections and whether it is on display or in storage. Allow time for items in storage to be researched.
