Vidalia Jeweler Mark Butler Awarded Prestigious Scholarship; Appointed to

Georgia Jewelers Association Board of Directors
Image

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA – Mark Butler of K E Butler & Co Jewelers in Vidalia was awarded the John W
Reed Memorial Scholarship for jeweler education at the recent meeting of the Georgia Jeweler’s
Association, held in Stone Mountain. Butler was also named to the GJA Board of Directors at the
meeting.
Butler will use the scholarship for distance learning from the Gemological Institute of America to earn an
Applied Jewelry Professional certificate in order to begin his work towards becoming a Graduate
Gemologist.
The scholarship was established in 2012 and was named after GJA past president John Reed out of the
love he had for the scholarship program. Along with Mark, Chris Spencer of Spencer’s Jewelers in Athens
was also awarded a $500 scholarship.
“This is a high honor for Mark as he has only been working full-time in the industry for 3½ years,” said
his Mother, Kathy Butler, co-owner of K E Butler & Co Jewelers, with her husband, Earl.
Georgia Jewelers Association is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote and protect the
welfare of retail jewelers in our state. Through the promotion of ethical business standards and
professional practices the organization hopes to elevate each member’s profitability.
In addition to catching up with fellow independent jewelers from around the state of Georgia, seminars
featured up to date information on diamonds, pearls, marketing and security.
Saturday night, after a day of seminars, golf and free time, the evening event featured the Jewelers for
Children charity auction and poker tournament, with nearly $5,000 being raised for the charity.
Sunday’s events included the Past Presidents luncheon honoring the past presidents of the Georgia
Jewelers Association. Earl Butler was recognized for his tenure as president from 1998 to 2000.
After the close of the convention Sunday, the GJA board of directors held their meeting and
unanimously elected Mark Butler to serve on the board.
While there is no set period of time to serve, the positions of Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President and
President are filled from the ranks of the board.

Restyling and Redesign Event
Wednesday, May 22, 2019
From the desk of…
Mark Butler
Is your jewelry outdated, like your high school yearbook photo wardrobe?
Did you stand AGHAST and make snide remarks about
Aunt Bertha’s rings… until they were willed to you?
Do you see no value in your jewelry?
Do you just plain hate the style of your engagement ring & wish for more?
Or perhaps a child of yours is on the verge of becoming engaged and you want to pass your heirloom diamond to them… (while getting a new diamond and ring  for yourself).
Do you never wear your gemstone jewelry because your tastes have changed?
No way around it… is your jewelry just ugly?
Then you are in luck!
For one day only – Wednesday, May 22nd – we will give you the opportunity to see your diamonds and gemstones in a whole new light.
We have over 500 semi-mounts for rings, earrings and pendants that are just begging for your stones, all at our semi-annual Restyling Event,
As a special offer…
Call and book an appointment and receive 20% off when you find that perfect setting, along with VIP, personalized service at your appointment.
But, hurry! There are only 17 appointment slots available, and when they’re gone, they’re gone.

AND THERE’S MORE!
In addition, we will take your old setting and any other old jewelry and buy it from you for additional savings!
The biggest surprise is still to come!
We can normally restyle or build your jewelry from scratch every day, but to get the finished product, it takes almost a month if not longer. Yet, at this event, we complete the entire project ON THE SPOT! You can get your finished piece of jewelry THAT SAME DAY!
Can you see why we only have 17 slots available?
Hey, I can’t resist. I’ve got to give you a few examples…

We look forward to seeing your face light up with delight as you admire what you thought was an old, ugly stone but is now the talk of your friends and family.
Miracles do happen!
But as it turns out, only 17 of them on May 22nd.
So give me a call at (912-537-3623) right away, because the time constraints of completing your piece for same-day delivery strictly limits us to the 17 appointments I’ve talked about here, and we’re taking the appointments on a first-come basis.
So call and set your appointment TODAY, because we can only guarantee that appointments before 5pm will receive their items that day!
Mark butler Signature
P.S. What I said is true… you can have your precious diamonds or gemstones remounted into a beautiful new piece, save 20%, enjoy additional savings by having us buy other outdated jewelry you have… and get it all in one day. But the limit of 17 appointments is absolutely real and “set in stone.” So please CALL (912-537-3623) NOW and get your appointment while we still have some left.

ONE DAY ONLY
Restyling Event

_TWO  DAYS  ONLY_
November 20th & 21st
Black Tuesday and Wednesday

After multiple attempts of trying to find the perfect wedding band, the team at Butler’s was able to help me find exactly what I was looking for. The next step was to find the perfect Diamond. Mark let me know of their upcoming trip to Antwerp where they said they could locate the perfect diamond and probably get it for a much better price than I could get elsewhere. They did not disappoint. The diamond was absolutely beautiful and my future bride was extremely happy. The fact that it appraised for more than what I had to spend was an excellent bonus. Not to mention the Belgium chocolates they included for my fiancée. I will definitely go back for my next jewelry purchase thanks to the team at K E Butler Jewelers.

Mother's Day Essay Winner Announced
Third, fourth and fifth graders from the five elementary schools in Toombs County recently had the opportunity to participate in a Mother’s Day Essay Contest.  The students were asked by K E Butler and Co Jewelers to write an essay about why their mother or mother figure deserves a white gold diamond pendant as a gift for Mother’s Day.  Several hundred essays were submitted and thoughtfully read by the jewelry store staff while not aware of the essay’s title, its writer’s name or school name.  The task of choosing a winning essay judged on creativity, presentation, and correspondence with the theme by its writer proved to be difficult.  The staff elected to choose an Honorable Mention essay in addition to the winning essay.   “Living Life with a Diamond,” written by fourth grader, Amelia Richter, Toombs Central Elementary, was chosen as the winning essay.  “The Best Mom,” written by third grader, Lydia B. Horne, Vidalia Heritage Academy, received Honorable Mention.
A 14KW gold diamond pendant was presented by Jessica Aaron, store manager and Earl Butler, jeweler, to Amelia during the annual Honors Day at Toombs Central Elementary on Friday, May 12, 2017.  Her mother, Jennifer Richter, was in the audience and came forward to receive the beautiful diamond pendant from her daughter for Mother’s Day.  Amelia’s fourth grade teacher, Lorie Tillman, received 14KW diamond stud earrings.
Amelia’s essay, entitled “Living Life with a Diamond” is printed in its entirety as written by Amelia.

My mother is a diamond in my life.  She shines all the time.
I love her because she is not a selfish person.  She works two jobs, but always makes time for me and others.
My mother always encourages me to do my best in everything I do.
She is my best friend because I can tell her anything.
I love doing activities with my mother such as getting our nails painted, shopping, cooking, reading and painting.
I would love to see my mother wear a diamond pendant so she can shine on the outside like she does on the inside.

Mother's Day Essay Competition
Materials have been distributed to all five schools in Toombs County for each 3rd, 4th and 5th grade class to participate in K E Butler Jewelers' Mother's Day Essay Competition.
No influence is so powerful as that of a Mother
Students are invited to write a short essay, in 100 words or less, about why their mother (or mother figure) deserves a beautiful diamond pendant.  Students are limited to one entry and submissions must be handled by their teacher and are due Friday, May 5, 2017.  Blind judging will be based on creativity, presentation and correspondence with theme.  The school of the winner will be notified the following Monday, May 8th. The winner and his or her teacher will be presented the grand prizes that week.  The winner will receive a 14KW gold diamond pendant for his or her mother or mother figure.  The teacher of the winning student will receive 14KW gold
diamond stud earrings, all compliments of K E Butler Jewelers.
